The Globe Theatre reopens under the name 'Shakespeare's Globe Theatre' with a staging of Henry V. Mark Rylance serves as its first artistic director until 2006.

The Diocese of London and Stationers' reach an agreement which states that the Company will assume operational control of the interior of St Martin-within-Ludgate in addition to the already controlled meeting rooms on the second floor gallery.
